पवित्रं वासुदेवेन अभिमन्त्र्य सकृत्सकृत् / दृष्ट्वा पुनः प्रपूज्याथ वस्त्रेणाच्छाद्य यत्नतः
pavitraṃ vāsudevena abhimantrya sakṛtsakṛt / dṛṣṭvā punaḥ prapūjyātha vastreṇācchādya yatnataḥ
वासुदेवमन्त्रेण पवित्रं सकृत्सकृत् अभिमन्त्र्य, तत् दृष्ट्वा पुनः प्रपूज्य, वस्त्रेण यत्नतः आच्छादयेत्।
Lord Viṣṇu (teaching Garuḍa/Vinatā-putra)
Timing: After consecration and before the next ritual step; closing of the pavitra preparation
Concept: Mantra repetition (sakṛt-sakṛt) and reverent attention (darśana) awaken sacred presence; careful protection preserves sanctity.
Vedantic Theme: Nāma/mantra as a direct support for upāsanā; śraddhā and repetition refine the mind toward steadiness (ekāgratā).
Application: Repeat a chosen divine name/mantra with attention; after completing a practice, ‘seal’ it—end with gratitude and protect the calm (avoid immediate distraction).
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhayanaka
Type: altar center (pūjā-sthāna)
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.43.23 (Vāsudeva-mantra abhi-mantraṇa of pavitra; darśana, punar-pūjā, ācchādana)
This verse emphasizes mantra-śakti (mantric sanctification): the pavitra becomes ritually fit and spiritually charged by repeated abhimantraṇa with Vāsudeva’s name before being used or preserved.
It illustrates careful procedural dharma—seeing, worshipping, and respectfully covering sacred items—showing that purity is maintained through attentive handling, not merely possession of ritual objects.
Treat sacred items (threads, malas, amulets, pūjā tools) with reverence: sanctify with mantra, offer simple worship, and store them cleanly and covered to preserve sanctity and mindfulness.
