Lord Vishnu (narrating to Garuda/Vinata-putra)
Dosha: Vata
Concept: प्रमाद (neglect) of proper care causes escalation of suffering; timely attention prevents compounding harm.
Vedantic Theme: देह-धर्मे अनित्यता—bodily conditions are mutable; wise vigilance (apramāda) supports sādhana.
Application: Seek early treatment for abdominal masses/distension; avoid ignoring symptoms; regulate vāta through appropriate regimen.
Primary Rasa: bhayanaka
Secondary Rasa: karuna
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.160 (Ayurveda/roga-nidāna section): vāta disorders, gulma, ādhmāna, śūla
This verse frames disease progression as Vata becoming forceful when untreated—producing distension, pain, and systemic complications—showing the Purana’s practical medical (nidana) teaching.
It describes Vata being compressed internally, creating rumbling sounds, inflating the abdomen, and then moving upward toward the head—an Ayurvedic description of dysregulated internal wind.
Do not ignore persistent bloating, pain, and gurgling with upward pressure/head discomfort; early correction of diet and lifestyle that aggravate Vata is implied.
