Начиная с обоих больших пальцев, следует растереть и очистить руки до самых краёв ладоней. Затем, произнеся «Ом», о Деви, следует приступить к кара-ньясе (kara-nyāsa) — ритуальному наложению мантры на руки.
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Mantra: oṃ
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: teaching
It teaches that worship begins with inner and outer purification: the hands (instruments of action) are sanctified with Om and nyāsa so the act of japa or pūjā becomes a consecrated offering to Pati (Shiva), not a merely physical action.
Kara-nyāsa is a preparatory rite for Saguna worship such as Liṅga-pūjā and mantra-japa: by placing mantra-power into the hands, the devotee approaches the Liṅga with disciplined, mantra-infused action aligned to Shiva’s presence.
Hand purification followed by uttering the praṇava “Om” and performing kara-nyāsa—typically done before japa, dhyāna, or Liṅga-archana, to stabilize attention and invoke mantra-śakti.
