Glory of Prayaga and the Magha Bath at Triveni
स्नानेनानेन मे देव यथोक्तफलदो भव । इमं मंत्रं समुच्चार्य स्नायान्मौनं समाश्रितः ॥ १४ ॥
snānenānena me deva yathoktaphalado bhava | imaṃ maṃtraṃ samuccārya snāyānmaunaṃ samāśritaḥ || 14 ||
О Господь, этим омовением даруй мне плоды именно так, как сказано. Произнеся эту мантру, следует совершать омовение, соблюдая священное молчание (мауна).
Narrative instruction (traditional Narada Purana dialogue context: teaching voice attributed to Sage Narada conveying prescribed rite)
Vrata: Māgha-snāna (contextual continuation)
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It frames sacred bathing as a result-bearing (phalada) act when performed with correct intention, mantra-recitation, and disciplined conduct such as mauna.
By addressing the Lord directly and seeking the promised fruit through a prescribed act, the verse models devotional dependence—ritual action offered with faith and reverence.
Ritual discipline and correct recitation are emphasized: proper mantra-utterance (linked to Śikṣā and Vyākaraṇa for sound/clarity) and observance of mauna as a rule of rite.
