Chapter 58: Arjuna’s Deployment of the Indra-Weapon
अहं तु प्रद्वते पूर्व प्रहरिष्पामि तेडनघ । इति मे वर्तते बुद्धिस्तद् भवान् कर्तुमहति
ahaṃ tu pradvatē pūrvaṃ prahariṣyāmi te 'nagha | iti me vartate buddhis tad bhavān kartum arhati ||
Вайшампаяна сказал: «Но я ударю тебя лишь после того, как ты ударишь первым, о безгрешный. Таков твёрдый замысел в моём уме; потому пусть твоя честь совершит должное — ударь меня прежде». Эти слова представляют бой не как слепую ярость, а как добровольно принятую нравственную сдержанность: говорящий отказывается начинать насилие против почитаемого противника даже в неизбежной битве.
