Adharma’s Short-Lived Prosperity and the Restorative Path of Tīrtha (लोमश–युधिष्ठिर संवादः)
तुम तो सदा धर्ममें मन लगाये रखनेवाले, धर्मज्ञ, सत्यप्रतिज्ञ और सब प्रकारकी आसक्तियोंसे शून्य हो और आगे भी तुममें अधिकाधिक इन गुणोंका विकास होगा ।। यथा भगीरथो राजा राजानश्न गयादय: । यथा ययाति: कौन्तेय तथा त्वमपि पाण्डव
tvaṃ tu sadā dharme manaḥ saṃdhārayituṃ śīlaḥ, dharmajñaḥ satyapratijñaś ca sarvavidhāsaktibhiḥ śūnyaḥ; agre ’pi ca tvayi ete guṇā adhikādhikaṃ vṛddhiṃ yāsyanti. yathā bhagīratho rājā, rājānaś ca nalo gayādayaḥ; yathā yayātiḥ kaunteya, tathā tvam api pāṇḍava.
Ломаша сказал: «Ты неизменно держишь ум в дхарме — знаешь, что праведно, твёрд в истине и свободен от всякой привязанности. Эти добродетели будут возрастать в тебе ещё сильнее в грядущие дни. Как царь Бхагиратха, как цари Нала и Гая, как Яяти, о сын Кунти, — так и ты, о Пандава, станешь прославленным».
लोमश उवाच
The verse commends steadfast commitment to dharma and truth, coupled with freedom from attachment, presenting these as kingly virtues that should continually increase; it urges the Pandava to embody the same moral excellence seen in exemplary rulers of the past.
Lomaśa addresses the Pandava (Kaunteya), praising his present character—devotion to dharma, truthful resolve, and detachment—and predicts further growth, reinforcing the message by citing renowned kings (Bhagiratha, Nala, Gaya, Yayati) as parallels and standards.
