श्रुत्वा शब्दं तु यं कज्चिदुन्मुखा सुतशड्कया । सावित्रीसहितो<भ्येति सत्यवानित्यभाषताम्,जो कोई भी शब्द कानमें पड़ता, उसीको सुनकर वे अपने पुत्रके आनेकी आशंकासे उत्सुक हो उठते और परस्पर कहने लगते कि “सावित्रीके साथ सत्यवान् आ रहा है!
śrutvā śabdaṃ tu yaṃ kaścid unmukhāḥ sutaśaṅkayā | sāvitrīsahito ’bhyeti satyavān iti cābhāṣatām ||
Услышав любой звук, они тотчас поднимали головы — с тревожной надеждой, что сын уже пришёл. И говорили друг другу: «Сатьяван идёт, и с ним Савитри!»
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical-emotional texture of dharma in family life: loving concern and vigilant hope for a child’s welfare. It frames Sāvitrī’s steadfast companionship as a source of reassurance, showing how devotion and responsibility are recognized even by anxious elders.
Mārkaṇḍeya describes the parents’ anxious waiting. Any sound makes them look up, thinking their son Satyavān is returning, and they repeatedly tell each other that he is coming back with Sāvitrī.
