मარკण्डेयागमनम् तथा सत्यव्रत-उपदेशः

Arrival of Mārkaṇḍeya and Counsel on Truth-Vows

कुणञ्जरस्येव संग्रामे परिगृह्माड्कुशग्रहम्‌ । ब्राह्मणैरविप्रहीणस्य क्षत्रस्य क्षीयते बलम्‌,जैसे संग्राममें हाथीसे महावतको अलग कर देनेपर उसकी सारी शक्ति व्यर्थ हो जाती है, उसी प्रकार ब्राह्मणरहित क्षत्रियका सारा बल क्षीण हो जाता है

kuñjarasyeva saṅgrāme parigṛhya aṅkuśa-graham | brāhmaṇair aviprāhīṇasya kṣatrasya kṣīyate balam ||

Вайшампаяна сказал: «Как на поле брани мощь слона становится тщетной, когда его отделяют от погонщика, держащего крюк, так и сила кшатрийского сословия иссякает, когда оно лишено брахманов. Власть без верного руководства и священного совета не бывает долговечной.»
