Kubera’s Fivefold Nīti and Protection of the Pāṇḍavas (वैश्रवणोपदेशः)
एते वैदूर्यवर्णाभं क्षोभयन्ति महत् सर: । “इधर देखो, ये कमलके समान कान्तिवाले गजराज, जिनके चार दाँत शोभा पा रहे हैं, हथिनियोंके साथ आकर वैदूर्यमणिके समान सुशोभित इस महान् सरोवरको मथे डालते हैं
ete vaidūryavarṇābhaṃ kṣobhayanti mahat saraḥ |
Вайшампаяна сказал: «Эти слоны, сияющие как лотосы и сверкающие как вайдурья (камень “кошачий глаз”), приходят вместе со слонихами и взбаламучивают, вздымают это огромное озеро».
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights attentive observation of the natural world and the recognition of power expressed without malice—an implicit ethical contrast to human conflict, fitting the forest setting where endurance and restraint are cultivated.
The narrator describes a striking scene: gem-like, lotus-radiant elephants (as understood from the surrounding context) enter with their herd and churn the waters of a vast lake, making the lake’s beauty and dynamism vivid.
