एवं द्वापरमासाद्य प्रजा: क्षीयन्त्यधर्मत: । पादेनैकेन कौन्तेय धर्म: कलियुगे स्थित:,इस प्रकार द्वापरयुगके आनेपर अधर्मके कारण प्रजा क्षीण होने लगती है। (तत्पश्चात् कलियुगका आगमन होता है।) कुन्तीनन्दन! कलियुगमें धर्म एक ही चरणसे स्थित होता है
evaṃ dvāparam āsādya prajāḥ kṣīyanty adharmataḥ | pādenaikena kaunteya dharmaḥ kaliyuge sthitaḥ ||
Так, с наступлением эпохи Двапара (Dvāpara) люди начинают иссякать из-за адхармы (adharma), неправедности. Затем приходит эпоха Кали (Kali); о сын Кунти (Kuntī), в Кали дхарма (dharma) стоит лишь на одной четверти — сильно умалённая и непрочная.
भीम उवाच
Adharma causes social and demographic decline, and as the ages progress toward Kali, dharma loses its fullness—remaining only in a fraction—so ethical stability becomes harder to sustain and must be consciously protected.
Bhīma addresses a Kaunteya (a son of Kuntī, typically Yudhiṣṭhira) while describing the yuga-cycle: in Dvāpara, unrighteousness increases and people diminish; with the advent of Kali, dharma is said to stand on only one ‘foot’ (one quarter).
