Approach to Śveta Mountain and Kailāsa; Lomāśa’s Warnings and Protective Instructions
etad vai mānuṣeṇādya na śakyaṃ draṣṭum adbhutam | samādhiṃ kurutāvyagrās tīrthāny etāni drakṣyatha ||

Sacred realities are not accessed through mere physical travel or ordinary perception; they require inner steadiness. By becoming avyagra (free from agitation) and entering samādhi (collected attention), one becomes fit to truly ‘see’ the tīrthas—suggesting that spiritual vision depends on mental discipline and purity.
Lomaśa, guiding the travelers on a tīrtha-yātrā, tells them that the wondrous nature of these holy places cannot be properly perceived by a distracted person. He instructs them to become calm and concentrated so they may behold the tīrthas as they truly are.
