अथैनमपनीतेन सुहृदो नाम दुर्हवद: । सभासदोशनुवर्तेरंस्तांश्व हन्यां दुरोदरान्,यदि वहाँ सुहृदनामधारी शत्रु अन्यायका आश्रय ले इस धृतराष्ट्रका साथ देते तो मैं उन सभासद जुआरियोंको मार डालता इति श्रीमहाभारते वनपर्वणि अर्जुनाभिगमनपर्वणि वासुदेववाक्ये त्रयोदशो<5 ध्याय: इस प्रकार श्रीमह्याभारत वनपर्वके अन्तर्गत अजुनाभिगमनपर्वमें वायुदेववाक्यविषयक तेरहवाँ अध्याय पूरा हुआ
athainam apanītena suhṛdo nāma durhṛdaḥ | sabhāsado 'nuvartyeran tāṁś ca hanyāṁ duroddarān, yadi ||
Ваю сказал: «Если те люди собрания — игроки с порочным умыслом — станут на сторону этого Дхритараштры, укрывшись за неправдой, пусть даже носят имя “друзей”, я низвергну этих злосердечных мужей». Смысл сказанного в том, что одно лишь имя “друг” не освящает злодеяние: поддержка адхармы, особенно в открытом совете, делает соучастником и навлекает праведное возмездие.
वायुदेव उवाच
The verse stresses that ethical responsibility depends on actions, not labels: those who call themselves ‘friends’ yet support injustice in a public assembly become agents of adharma. Social or political allegiance cannot excuse complicity; siding with wrongdoing makes one morally accountable.
Vāyu declares a conditional resolve: if the courtly assembly-men—depicted as gamblers with corrupt intent—were to back Dhṛtarāṣṭra by taking refuge in injustice, he would punish them. The line functions as a moral judgment on the Kuru court’s complicity in the dice-related wrongdoing.
