धृतराष्ट्रस्य पुत्रेण सामात्येन जनार्दन । यथा च संजयो राज्ञा मन्त्र रहसि श्रावित:,धर्मके ज्ञाता महाबाहु मधुसूदन! आपको तो मालूम ही है कि मन्सत्रियोंसहित धृतराष्ट्रपुत्र दुर्योधनने किस प्रकार शठताका आश्रय लेकर पाण्डवोंको सुखसे वंचित कर दिया। दशाहनन्दन! राजा धृतराष्ट्रने युधिष्ठिस्से कहनेके लिये संजयको एकान्तमें जो मन्त्र (अपना विचार) सुनाकर यहाँ भेजा था, वह भी आपको ज्ञात ही है तथा धर्मराजने संजयसे जैसी बातें कही थीं, उन सबको भी आपने सुन ही लिया है

vaiśampāyana uvāca |

dhṛtarāṣṭrasya putreṇa sāmātyena janārdana |

yathā ca saṃjayo rājñā mantra-rahasī śrāvitaḥ ||

dharmajña mahābāho madhusūdana! āpako to mālūm hī hai ki mantriyoṃ-sahit dhṛtarāṣṭra-putra duryodhana ne kis prakār śaṭhatā kā āśraya lekar pāṇḍavoṃ ko sukh se vañcit kar diyā | daśāha-nandana! rājā dhṛtarāṣṭra ne yudhiṣṭhira se kahne ke liye saṃjaya ko ekānta meṃ jo mantra (apnā vicār) sunākar yahāṃ bhejā thā, vah bhī āpko jñāt hī hai tathā dharmarāj ne saṃjaya se jaisī bāteṃ kahī thīṃ, un sabko bhī āpne sun hī liyā hai |

Вайшампаяна сказал: «О Джанардана, тебе уже известно, как сын Дхритараштры вместе со своими министрами прибег к обману и лишил Пандавов заслуженного ими счастья. О Мадхусудана, ведающий дхарму, могучерукий! Тебе также известен тайный совет, который царь Дхритараштра наедине доверил Санджае, чтобы тот передал его Юдхиштхире; и ты равно слышал всё, что Дхармараджа ответил Санджае».
