Bhīṣma and Droṇa’s Counsel of Conciliation to Duryodhana
yadartha kṣatriyā sūte tasya kālo ’yam āgataḥ | na hi vairaṃ samāsādya sīdanti puruṣarṣabhāḥ ||
The verse affirms kṣatriya-dharma: when a just conflict becomes unavoidable, true heroes do not collapse into despair. The ethical emphasis is on steadfastness and courage once one has committed to a necessary struggle.
A speaker identified as “the son” urges that the decisive moment has arrived—the very moment for which a warrior lineage raises sons. The line functions as a call to action, framing the coming confrontation as the proper time for heroic resolve rather than hesitation.
