लोकेश्वर प्रभुत्वं हि महदेतद्‌ दुरात्मभि: । राज्यं नामेप्सितं स्थानं न शक्‍्यमभिरक्षितुम्‌,'जनेश्वर! यह महान प्रभुत्व ही राज्य नामक अभीष्ट स्थान है। जिनकी अन्तरात्मा दूषित है, वे इसकी रक्षा नहीं कर सकते

Vaishampāyana uvāca |

Lokeśvara prabhutvaṃ hi mahad etad durātmabhiḥ |

Rājyaṃ nāmepsitaṃ sthānaṃ na śakyam abhirakṣitum ||

Вайшампаяна сказал: «О владыка людей, владычество над миром — поистине великое бремя. Желанное место, именуемое “царской властью”, не может быть сохранено теми, чья внутренняя природа порочна».
