Вайшампаяна сказал: «На четвёртой ступени плод равен плоду жертвоприношения Ваджапея; на пятой же награда удваивается — подобно только что взошедшему солнцу, пылающему, как огонь».
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse underscores the Mahābhārata’s recurring ethic that actions—especially ritually sanctioned, dharma-aligned acts—bear proportionate results (phala). Here, the merit is portrayed as increasing (even doubling) with successive stages, and its radiance symbolizes the palpable, luminous nature of earned spiritual reward.
Vaiśampāyana is describing the escalating fruit of a Vājapeya sacrifice across its stages, characterizing that reward as brilliantly radiant—like the rising sun and like blazing fire—thereby emphasizing the magnitude and splendor of the resulting merit within the Svargārohaṇa (ascent to heaven) context.
