अविलम्बमनायस्तमद्रुतं धीरमूर्जितम् । असंसक्ताक्षरपदं स्वरभावसमन्वितम्
avilambam anāyastam adrutaṃ dhīram ūrjitam | asaṃsaktākṣarapadaṃ svarabhāvasamanvitam ||
Вайшампаяна сказал: «Чтение не должно быть ни затянутым и натужным, ни поспешным. Пусть оно течёт ровно, с выдержанной спокойной силой; слоги и слова следует произносить отчётливо, не сливая их, а голос и чувство — согласовывать. Тогда сказитель сладостно раскрывает смысл и делает повествование понятным и действенным.»
