Shloka 11

इतिहासमिमं श्रुत्वा यथावदनुपूर्वश: । संयतात्मा शुचिर्भूत्वा पारं गत्वा च भारते

Transliteration

itihāsam imaṁ śrutvā yathāvad anupūrvaśaḥ | saṁyatātmā śucir bhūtvā pāraṁ gatvā ca bhārate || mahādānāni deyāni ratnāni vividhāni ca |

Translation

Вайшампаяна сказал: «Выслушав эту историю в должном порядке и в точности такой, какова она есть, с обузданным умом и став чистым внутри и снаружи, и доведя слушание до полного завершения, о Бхарата, следует затем совершить великие дары, в том числе различные драгоценности. Окончив “Махабхарату”, слушатель должен, по мере сил, совершить шраддху (śrāddha) по главным героям, павшим в битвах, и с благоговением щедро одарить брахманов».
