Greatness and high attainment are not achieved through contempt for sacred knowledge (the Vedas) or through deceit and trickery; ethical integrity is presented as the necessary foundation for true success.
In the Shanti Parva’s instruction on dharma, Bhishma counsels Yudhishthira, warning him not to adopt attitudes or strategies rooted in disparaging the Vedas or relying on deceitful means, since such conduct cannot lead to genuine greatness.
