Rāma–Jāmadagnya-janma-kāraṇa and Kṣatra-kṣaya
Paraśurāma’s origins and the depletion/restoration of kṣatriya lineages
maruttasyānvavāye ca rakṣitāḥ kṣatriyātmajāḥ
The verse underscores rājadharma: the ethical responsibility of rulers and guardians to protect rightful social groups—here, Kṣatriya offspring—so that succession, security, and the stability of dharma are preserved.
Vāsudeva cites the example of King Marutta’s line, stating that in that succession the Kṣatriya-born sons were safeguarded, using precedent to support a broader point about protection, continuity, and proper governance.
