Nara-Nārāyaṇa–Nārada Discourse on Vision, Elements, and Entry into Vāsudeva

व्यथितस्य विधित्साभिस्ताम्यतो जीवितैषिण: । अवशस्य विनाशाय शरीरमपकृष्यते,तृष्णासे व्यथित, दुखी एवं विवश होकर जीनेकी इच्छा रखनेवाले मनुष्यका शरीर विनाशकी ओर ही खिंचता चला जाता है

vyathitasya vidhitsābhis tāmyato jīvitaiṣiṇaḥ | avaśasya vināśāya śarīram apakṛṣyate ||

Нарада сказал: Того, кто истерзан — терзаем жаждой и беспокойными побуждениями, кто изнемогает, но всё же цепляется за жизнь, — его тело, бессильное, увлекается и тащится к погибели.

Craving-driven agitation weakens a person from within; when one becomes powerless under desire, the body and life-force decline and move toward ruin. The ethical lesson is to cultivate restraint and inner steadiness rather than being driven by compulsive wanting.
