This line is a colophon marking the end of a chapter titled “Śreyovācika,” indicating that the chapter’s focus is śreyas—ultimate welfare or the highest good—typically framed in Mokṣa-dharma as ethical and spiritual guidance oriented toward liberation.
The text is concluding: it formally states that, within the Mahābhārata’s Śānti Parva and its Mokṣa-dharma section, the 287th chapter named “Śreyovācika” has ended. It functions as an editorial/structural closure rather than a spoken verse advancing the story.
