Śreyas-nirdeśa (Discerning the Superior Good): Nārada–Gālava Saṃvāda
यो न हिंसति सत्त्वानि मनोवाक्कर्महेतुभि:
yo na hiṃsati sattvāni manovākkarmahetubhiḥ
Бхишма сказал: Кто не причиняет вреда живым существам — ни побуждением ума, ни словом, ни телесным действием, — тот воплощает обет ненасилия (ахимсы) как цельную нравственную практику, а не как одно лишь внешнее воздержание.
भीष्म उवाच
Ahimsa is threefold and complete only when it is upheld in intention (mind), expression (speech), and conduct (action). Ethical purity is measured not just by what one does, but also by what one wills and says.
In the Śānti Parva’s dharma instruction, Bhīṣma continues advising on righteous conduct, emphasizing non-violence as a foundational virtue that must govern inner motives, spoken words, and outward deeds.
