स चिन्तयामास मुनिर्जलवासे कदाचन । विप्रेक्ष्य सागरान्तां वै महीं सवनकाननाम्
sa cintayāmāsa munir jalavāse kadācana | viprekṣya sāgarāntāṃ vai mahīṃ savanakānanām ||
Бхишма сказал: Однажды, живя в богатой водами прибрежной местности, мудрец погрузился в глубокое размышление. Обозрев землю, простирающуюся до самого океанского края, вместе с её лесами и рощами, он начал раздумывать о смысле жизни и о должном поведении в мире, положив начало нравственному поиску праведного образа жизни.
