इन्द्रने कहा--देवि! मेरेद्वारा स्थापित की हुई आपको समस्त प्राणियोंमेंसे जो भी पीड़ा देगा, वह मेरेद्वारा दण्डनीय होगा। मेरी यह बात वे सब लोग सुन लें ।।

Transliteration

śakra uvāca—devi! mayā pratiṣṭhitāyāḥ tvāṃ sarva-prāṇiṣu yo 'pi pīḍāṃ kariṣyati sa mayā daṇḍanīyo bhaviṣyati; etad vacanaṃ mama te sarve janāḥ śṛṇvantu. tataḥ tyaktaḥ śriyā rājā daityānāṃ balir abravīt—yāvat purastāt pratapet tāvad vai dakṣiṇāṃ diśam, paścimāṃ tāvad evāpi tathodīcīṃ divākaraḥ.

Translation

Шакра (Индра) сказал: «О богиня! Кто бы из всех существ ни причинил тебе страдание — хотя ты утверждена мною, — тот будет наказан мною. Пусть все услышат это мое объявление». Затем Бали, царь дайтьев, лишенный царской удачи, произнес: «Насколько Солнце пылает на востоке, настолько простирается и южная сторона; так же и западная, и так же северная — всюду, куда достигает солнечный свет».
