Adhyāya 199: Karma–Jñāna Causality and the Nirguṇa Brahman

Manu’s Instruction

सत्य॑ वेदेषु जागार्ति फलं सत्ये परं स्मृतम्‌ । सत्याद्‌ धर्मो दमश्चैव सर्व सत्ये प्रतेष्ठितम्‌,वेदोंमें सत्य ही जागता है--उसीकी महिमा बतायी गयी है। सत्यका ही सबसे श्रेष्ठ फल माना गया है। धर्म और इन्द्रिय-संयमकी सिद्धि भी सत्यसे ही होती है। सत्यके ही आधारपर सब कुछ टिका हुआ है

satyaṁ vedeṣu jāgarti phalaṁ satye paraṁ smṛtam | satyād dharmo damaś caiva sarvaṁ satye pratiṣṭhitam ||

Брахман провозглашает: в Ведах истина пребывает вечно бодрствующей, и её величие там вновь и вновь утверждается. Высший плод, говорится, принадлежит самой истине. Из истины рождаются исполнение дхармы и достижение самообуздания (дама); поистине, всё утверждено на истине как на основании.
