Отбросив и истину и не-истину — вместе с печалью и радостью, страхом и бесстрашием, приятным и неприятным, — человек становится умиротворённым в душе.
ब्राह्मण उवाच
The verse teaches that inner peace arises when a seeker relinquishes attachment to all opposites—truth/falsehood, sorrow/joy, fear/fearlessness, pleasant/unpleasant—so the mind is no longer pulled by reactive preferences and aversions.
A brāhmaṇa speaker delivers an instruction in the Śānti Parva’s didactic setting, emphasizing spiritual discipline: the aspirant is urged to transcend worldly dualities to attain a tranquil, settled inner state.
