Nārada–Vāyu–Śalmali Upākhyāna: Enmity with the Strong and the Primacy of Buddhi (नारद-वायु-शल्मलि उपाख्यानम्)

“वहाँ लोहेके समान चोंचवाले गीध और मोर तुझे नोच-नोचकर पीड़ा देंगे और उसके बाद भी नरकसे लौटनेपर तुझे किसी पापयोनिमें ही जन्म लेना पड़ेगा ।।

yad idaṃ manyase rājan nāyam asti kutaḥ paraḥ | pratismārayitāras tvāṃ yamadūtā yamakṣaye ||

Бхишма сказал: «Там грифы и павлины с клювами, твёрдыми как железо, будут рвать тебя, причиняя муки; и даже вернувшись из ада, ты всё равно должен будешь родиться в греховном лоне. О царь! Если ты думаешь: “Раз в этом мире я не вижу плода греха, то откуда взяться иному миру?” — знай: когда ты достигнешь царства Ямы, посланцы Ямы в обители Ямы напомнят тебе обо всех этих деяниях и об их последствиях».
