निमन्त्रयीत सान्त्वेन सम्मानेन तितिक्षया | लोकाराधनमित्येतत्‌ कर्तव्यं भूतिमिच्छता

Transliteration

nimantrayīta sāntvena sammānena titikṣayā | lokārādhanam ity etat kartavyaṁ bhūtim icchatā ||

Translation

Бхишма сказал: Царь, желающий благополучия и успеха верховной власти, должен привлекать людей на свою сторону мягким убеждением — доброй речью, почтением к ним и терпеливым перенесением тягот. Это и называется «покорить мир» (завоевать расположение народа), и тот, кто стремится к процветающей власти, обязан это практиковать.
