एतत्‌ कारणसामर्थ्य श्रोतुमिच्छामि तत्त्वत: । भवन्तो5पि तपोनित्या ब्रूयुरेतत्‌ समन्विता:

Transliteration

etad kāraṇa-sāmarthyaṁ śrotum icchāmi tattvataḥ | bhavanto 'pi tapo-nityā brūyur etat samanvitāḥ ||

Translation

Бхишма сказал: «Я желаю услышать поистине и со всей ясностью об этой причине и о её действенной силе. Вы тоже неизменно преданы аскезе; потому, собравшись и пребывая в согласии, объясните это дело. Если мои вопросы нарушают вашу пенансу, я прекращу; но если есть время для беседы, разрешите сомнение, которое я поднял».
