Counsel at the Point of Departure
abhivādaṃ karomy eṣāṃ kurūṇāṃ kurusaṃsadi | na me sthād aparādho 'yaṃ yad idaṃ na kṛtaṃ mayā ||
The verse highlights ethical decorum in a royal assembly: offering due respect (abhivāda) is a dharmic obligation, and when a lapse occurs, one should acknowledge it and seek that it not be judged as intentional wrongdoing.
In the Kuru court, the speaker states that they are now saluting the assembled Kuru elders and nobles, and requests that the earlier omission of greeting not be treated as an offence.
