गोवासना ब्राह्मणाश्न दासनीयाश्ष सर्वश: । प्रीत्यर्थ ते महाराज धर्मराज्ञों महात्मन:
duryodhana uvāca | go-vāsanā brāhmaṇāś ca dāsanīyāś ca sarvaśaḥ | prīty-arthaṃ te mahārāja dharmarājño mahātmanaḥ ||
Дурьодхана сказал: «О великий царь, брахманы, вайшьи, живущие скотоводством, и все пригодные к службе (шудры и прочие) стояли у ворот с дарами, желая угодить благородному Дхармарадже. Они собрались большими толпами, неся прекрасные золотые сосуды и иные подношения, но внутрь пройти не могли.»
दुर्योधन उवाच
The verse highlights how public virtue and righteous kingship (Dharmarāja’s reputation) draw voluntary support across social groups through gifts and goodwill; it also hints at the ethical tension between genuine devotion and the politics of recognition and access.
Duryodhana reports that many people—Brahmins, cattle-keeping Vaiśyas, and service classes—have gathered at the entrance with offerings intended for Yudhiṣṭhira, but they are being held at the gate and cannot enter, emphasizing the crowd, the wealth of gifts, and the situation of restricted access.
