Adhyāya 31: Rājasūya-samāgama — The Gathering of Kings and the Ordering of Hospitality
त्रैपुरं स वशे कृत्वा राजानममितौजसम्
traipuraṃ sa vaśe kṛtvā rājānam amitaujasam
Подчинив Трипуру своей власти, он покорил царя неизмеримой мощи.
सहदेव उवाच
The verse highlights the ideal of royal capability: establishing control over strongholds and powerful rivals to secure political stability. In the Mahabharata’s ethical frame, such power is meaningful when aligned with rājadharma—maintaining order and protecting the realm.
Sahadeva is recounting a feat of subjugation: Tripura is brought under control, and a king of great might is subdued. The line functions as a concise praise-report of conquest within a broader political or ceremonial context in the Sabha Parva.
