अध्याय ९ — कर्णस्य प्रहारः, योधयुग्मनियोजनम्, शैनेय-कैकेययोर्युद्धविन्यासः
शेते विनिहतो वीरो देवेन्द्रेण इवाचल: । जैसे देवराज इन्द्रके द्वारा वज़से मारा गया पर्वत पृथ्वीपर पड़ा हो
dhṛtarāṣṭra uvāca |
śete vinihato vīro devendreṇa ivācalaḥ |
Дхритараштра сказал: «Тот герой лежит поверженный, словно гора, сражённая Индрой. Так и Карна — великий лучник, некогда даровавший своим спутникам бесстрашие, — пал от руки Арджуны и ныне лежит на поле брани».
