एते भारत मातड्ा: कर्णेनाभिहता: शरै: | आर्तनादान्‌ विकुर्वाणा विद्रवन्ति दिशो दश,“भारत! कर्णके बाणोंसे मारे गये ये मतवाले हाथी आर्तनाद करते हुए दसों दिशाओंमें भाग रहे हैं

ete bhārata mātaṅgāḥ karṇenābhihatāḥ śaraiḥ | ārtanādān vikurvāṇā vidravanti diśo daśa ||

Санджая сказал: «О Бхарата! Эти слоны, обезумевшие от гона, поражённые стрелами Карны, издают крики муки и в панике бегут во все десять сторон света.»
