Санджая сказал: «Смотри, о лучший из гор: сияющее Солнце ныне вступает в свой закат. Словно оно со всех сторон собирает и сворачивает свет — глаза всего мира.»

The verse uses sunset as a moral and reflective cue: as the Sun ‘withdraws the eyes of the world,’ clarity and direct perception diminish. In a war setting, it reminds listeners that human action unfolds under cosmic rhythms, and that judgment and restraint become crucial when certainty (daylight/vision) fades.
Sañjaya signals that evening has arrived: the Sun is setting behind the western mountain. This functions as a scene-marker in the battle account, indicating the end of the day’s fighting and a shift toward night, regrouping, and the consequences of the day’s events.
