निवारयामास शरै: सम॑ संनतपर्वभि: । सत्यपराक्रमी भीष्म युद्धस्थलमें अन्य सब राजाओं-द्वारा छोड़े हुए बाणोंका झुकी हुई गाँठवाले अपने बाणोंद्वारा तुरंत ही निवारण कर देते थे || ४८ ह ।। शिखण्डी तु रणे बाणान् यान् मुमोच महारथ:
sañjaya uvāca |
nivārayāmāsa śaraiḥ samaṃ sannatapārva-bhiḥ |
śikhaṇḍī tu raṇe bāṇān yān mumoca mahārathaḥ ||
Санджая сказал: Своими собственными стрелами — с изогнутыми сочленениями — Бхишма, стойкий в истинной доблести, тотчас пресёк и обезвредил тучи стрел, выпущенные другими царями на поле брани. Меж тем Шикханди, великий колесничий воин, выпускал стрелы, что он метал в сражении.
