Adhyāya 111 (Book 6): Daśama-dina-saṃgrāma—Bhīṣma’s Counsel to Yudhiṣṭhira and the Śikhaṇḍin-Led Advance
भारत! वहाँ भीमसेनके द्वारा बाणोंसे ताड़ित हुए आपके सैनिक खूनसे लथपथ होकर परलोकगामी होने लगे ।। नकुलः सहदेवश्व सात्यकिश्न महारथ: । तव सैन्यं समासाद्य पीडयामासुरोजसा,नकुल, सहदेव और महारथी सात्यकिने आपकी सेनापर धावा करके उसे बलपूर्वक पीड़ित किया
bhārata! tatra bhīmasenena bāṇais tāḍitāḥ tava sainikāḥ śoṇitena liptāḥ paralokagāmino 'bhavan. nakulaḥ sahadevaś ca sātyakiś ca mahārathaḥ tava sainyaṃ samāsādya pīḍayāmāsur ojasā.
Санджая сказал: О Бхарата! Там же и твои воины, поражённые стрелами Бхимасены, окровавленные, начали отходить в мир иной. Накула, Сахадева и великий колесничий-ратник Сатьяки ринулись на твоё войско и могучим натиском жестоко его теснили.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the stark ethical gravity of war: martial duty and heroic force operate within kṣatriya-dharma, yet the immediate fruit is suffering and death. It implicitly warns that choices leading to battle carry irreversible consequences for entire armies, not only for leaders.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Bhīmasena’s arrows are cutting down Kaurava soldiers, leaving them blood-soaked and dying. Simultaneously, Nakula, Sahadeva, and the great warrior Sātyaki surge into the Kaurava ranks and harry the army with overwhelming vigor.
