Educational Q&A

True ethical greatness is recognized not by force or victory but by renunciation and right judgment; when a ruler’s dharmic decision is affirmed unanimously by the virtuous, it becomes a moment of moral awe (lomaharṣaṇa).

Vaiśampāyana reports that Bhīma, the other Pāṇḍavas, and Draupadī respond together, affirming the king’s statement as correct; the narration emphasizes that the described act of great renunciation moves the listeners deeply, producing a collective sense of reverent astonishment.
