वैशम्पायन उवाच
This line is a colophon rather than a doctrinal verse: its function is to signal closure and to identify the chapter’s subject as Subhadrā’s speech within the Anugītā. Ethically, it frames the preceding discourse as a completed unit of reflection within the post-war dharma-oriented teaching context of the Anugītā.
Vaiśampāyana, the narrator, marks the end of a chapter in the Anugītā section contained in the Aśvamedhika Parva. The chapter just concluded is described as being about Subhadrā’s words, and the colophon formally closes that chapter.
