Adhyāya 42 — Mahābhūta–Indriya–Adhyātma-Vyavasthā

Brahmā’s Instruction on Elements and Faculties

अधिभूतं तथा शब्दो दिशस्तत्राधिदैवतम्‌ । अब समस्त ज्ञानेन्द्रियोंके भूत

adhibhūtaṃ tathā śabdo diśas tatrādhidaivatam |

Ваю-дева сказал: «В этом учении звук есть адхибхута (adhibhūta — объективный, грубо-элементный аспект), а стороны света — адхидайвата (adhidaivata — божественный принцип-покровитель)». Далее наставление соотносит каждое чувство с его областью: для пространства (ākāśa) ухо — адхьятма (adhyātma, внутренняя основа); звук — его адхибхута (внешний объект); а направления — божество, которое управляет и упорядочивает этот предел (adhidaivata).
