The verse highlights ethical sensitivity to inner intention: a wise sage is expected to perceive what is in a ruler’s heart and to respond with compassionate, dharma-aligned blessing—granting fulfillment when the desire is worthy.
The narrator Vaiśampāyana addresses a revered sage, stating that the sage already knows the king’s unspoken wish and urging the sage to bless the king so that his heartfelt desire may be fulfilled immediately.
