Vidura’s Message to Dhṛtarāṣṭra: Authorization for Dāna and Public Welfare (विदुरवाक्यम्—दानानुज्ञा)
kāmagena vimānena divyābharaṇa-bhūṣitaḥ | ṛṣiputro mahābhāgas tapasā dagdha-kilbiṣaḥ ||
Tapas—disciplined austerity and restraint—can burn away kilbiṣa (moral taint), indicating that sincere spiritual effort has purificatory power and can reshape one’s karmic outcome.
Nārada describes an exalted posthumous state: the blessed figure, purified by austerity, is envisioned as adorned with divine ornaments and traveling in a wish-moving celestial chariot—imagery of honor, purification, and heavenly mobility.
