Yayāti’s Abdication and Pūru’s Coronation (ययाति-पूोरु-राज्याभिषेकः)
त्यजति ब्राह्मण: शिष्यान् देवयान्या प्रचोदित: । सा यं कामयते काम॑ स कार्योड्द्य त्वयानघे,“पापरहित राजकुमारी! आज बाबा शुक्राचार्य देवयानीके कहनेसे अपने शिष्यों-- यजमानोंको त्याग रहे हैं। अतः देवयानीकी जो कामना हो, वह तुम्हें पूर्ण करनी चाहिये”
tyajati brāhmaṇaḥ śiṣyān devayānyā pracoditaḥ | sā yaṃ kāmayate kāmaṃ sa kāryo ’dya tvayānaghe ||

वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical weight of honoring a rightful request—especially when a respected authority (the teacher) is already making a serious sacrifice (abandoning disciples/patrons) under that request. It frames fulfillment of Devayānī’s desire as an immediate duty tied to honor and responsibility.
Vaiśampāyana reports that Śukrācārya, prompted by his daughter Devayānī, is prepared to renounce his disciples/patrons. Addressing the princess (anaghe), the speaker urges her to ensure that Devayānī’s desired request is carried out without delay.
