Garuḍa’s Breach of the Amṛta-Guard and Boons with Viṣṇu; Encounter with Indra (Ādi-parva, Adhyāya 29)
Sautir uvāca—tataḥ sa vidyāpradaḥ niṣkrānto niṣādī-sahitas tadā | vardhayitvā ca garuḍam iṣṭaṃ deśaṃ jagāma ha ||
The verse highlights ethical reciprocity: when one is released from danger through another’s restraint and right conduct, gratitude is expressed through blessing. It also implies that dharmic action—self-control and honoring others—naturally yields auspicious outcomes.
Sauti narrates that the brāhmaṇa (described as a giver of knowledge) and the Niṣādī woman emerge from Garuḍa’s mouth. The brāhmaṇa then blesses/strengthens Garuḍa and departs to his chosen destination.
