Kalmāṣapāda’s Encounter with Śakti and the Escalation of the Vasiṣṭha–Viśvāmitra Feud
bharadvājasya tu sakhā pṛṣato nāma pārthivaḥ | tasyāpi drupado nāma tadā samabhavat sutaḥ ||

The verse underscores how relationships between sages and kings, and the continuity of lineage, become the groundwork for later responsibilities and moral choices; personal bonds and births are not merely private events but part of a wider dharmic and historical unfolding.
A Brahmin narrator identifies Pṛṣata as a friend of the sage Bharadvāja and states that Pṛṣata had a son named Drupada, introducing Drupada’s origin in the story.
