Pāṇḍu’s Marriages, Conquests, and Triumphal Return (पाण्डोर्विवाह-विजय-प्रत्यागमनम्)

यो व्यस्य वेदांश्षतुरस्तपसा भगवानृषि: । लोके व्यासत्वमापेदे कार्ष्ण्यात्‌ कृष्णत्वमेव च,“वे भगवान्‌ द्वैपायन मुनि अपने तपोबलसे चारों वेदोंका पृथक्‌ू-पृथक्‌ विस्तार करके लोकमें “व्यास” पदवीको प्राप्त हुए हैं। शरीरका रंग साँवला होनेसे उन्हें लोग “कृष्ण” भी कहते हैं

yo vyasya vedāṁś caturas tapasa bhagavān ṛṣiḥ | loke vyāsatvam āpede kārṣṇyāt kṛṣṇatvam eva ca ||

Вайшампаяна сказал: Тот благословенный мудрец силой подвижничества упорядочил и изложил четыре Веды в раздельном виде; потому в мире он обрёл титул «Вьяса». А из‑за тёмного цвета кожи люди зовут его также «Кришна».
