FAQs

This verse states that suffering at certain post-death stages is inevitable for some, so one should consistently perform dharmic, merit-producing acts that ensure beneficial remembrance and support, reducing such distress.

It points to “appointed times” (kāleṣu) in the post-death journey when the departed may experience hardship, implying that one’s conduct and accumulated merit in life influence the severity of that experience.

Live in a way that builds lasting merit—truthfulness, charity, service, and ritual responsibility—so that both inner conscience and post-death consequences are eased, and one becomes worthy of supportive remembrance.
