vyāsarāmādirūpeṣvanṛṣivipratvacintanam / kṛṣṇarāmādirūpeṣu antarasya vicintanam
Созерцай, что в образах Вьясы и Рамы Он не (лишь) риши и не просто брахман; и размышляй о внутренней реальности — о Господе, пребывающем в сердце, — в образах Кришны и Рамы.
Lord Vishnu (in instruction to Garuda/Vinata-putra)
Concept: Avatāra-tattva: the Lord is not reducible to the apparent human/varna/āśrama identity; He is the inner ruler present within those forms.
Vedantic Theme: Antaryāmin-brahman; nāma-rūpa as upādhi; īśvara as inner Self beyond social designation.
Application: When contemplating revered figures (or any person), shift from external labels to the indwelling divinity; practice antaryāmin-dhyāna while reciting Rāma/Kṛṣṇa names.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 3.12.64 (antaryāmin in Rāma/Kṛṣṇa); Garuda Purana 3.12.66 (Kṛṣṇa as pañcadhātu and cidānanda); Garuda Purana 3.12.67 (seeing Hari in parents and dvija)
This verse stresses discernment: one should see these revered figures not merely as social/religious roles (sage or brāhmaṇa), but as manifestations through which the Supreme is understood and meditated upon.
By directing the mind to the antaryāmin (inner indweller), it supports inner purification and right knowledge—key spiritual supports in the Garuda Purana’s broader guidance on liberation beyond fear of afterlife states.
Practice daily remembrance by looking past labels and status, and cultivate devotion and discernment—seeing the Divine presence within and behind exemplary lives and sacred narratives.
