Lord Vishnu (narrating to Garuda/Vinata-putra)

Concept: Nāma-smaraṇa and identity: the deity is ‘remembered’ (smṛtaḥ) by name, emphasizing the power of sacred naming and remembrance.

Vedantic Theme: Name-and-form (nāma-rūpa) as a devotional doorway to the divine; remembrance stabilizes mind toward śānti and strength.

Application: Use disciplined remembrance of divine names (including Kārttikeya/Skanda traditions where relevant) to cultivate courage and focus; keep vows aligned with protection of the vulnerable.

Primary Rasa: adbhuta

Secondary Rasa: vira

Type: nakṣatra/stellar cluster (mythic-maternal locus)

FAQs

This verse preserves the traditional identification of Skanda as Kārtikeya—‘belonging to the Kṛttikās’—highlighting his well-known association with the Kṛttikā star-group and the epithet derived from it.

It does not address the soul’s journey or afterlife doctrine; it is a genealogical-identificatory verse within the narrative, focusing on names and lineage associated with Kārtikeya.

Use it as a reference for accurate scriptural naming and lineage (Kārtikeya/Skanda as Kṛttikā-aptya), supporting correct recitation, study, and devotional understanding.
